How To Go From High Gloss To No Gloss!

So here is my first mini tutorial!
Hope you enjoy it and find it helpful!
I know for me, there’s days where I find my gloss to be too shiney or glossy and I just want to tone it down or matify it.
So here’s a trick that I’ve come across from Smashbox, that I think you’ll like.

Products used:
OCC Lip Tar – Melange
A matte neutral colour from the 88 Palette

Thanks for watching! 🙂

IMATS Toronto 2009

I just came back from IMATS (International Make-up Artist Trade Show) and came home with some make-up goodies! This trade show does not just happen in Toronto, but it also travels to Sydney, London, Vancouver and L.A.!

Some vendors in the show include: Make-up Forever, Beauty So Clean, FACE atelier, Kett Cosmetics, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Royal Brush, Crown Brush, Cover FX, Yaby Cosmetics, and so much more…

I went to this show with a good friend of mine. It was great going with her because she was very patient with me! 🙂 (Thanks Ruthie!) When we got there, we made our rounds and looked at each booth to see what they had. I brought a book with me to swatch colours, test products, and record prices. Then went around a second, third, fourth time and started purchasing!
Tip: You don’t want to start purchasing products right when you arrive. It’s best to walk around first and get a feel for what they are offering. Some vendors sell the same products for a different price. So make sure you get the best deals!

This year I went with 2 goals in mind:

1. Purchase the Make-up Forever Flash Palette
2. Don’t go over my spending budget

I’m so happy that I was able to accomplish these two goals. I stayed way within my budget and got the palette I was looking. When I purchased the MUFE Flash Palette, they told me there was only two left. So I bought it just in time. This palette is great because it is pretty much a multi-use palette. You can use it for eye shadow, blush, lipstick . . . you can even use it as foundation! I find the colours are very vibrant and pigmented compared to other brands out there such as, Ben Nye’s Lumiere palette and Kryolan Supra Colour palette.

Tip: If you use this Flash palette, don’t forget to set it with a loose powder such as, Make-Up Forever’s HD Microfinish powder to keep it in place.

Another favourite item I purchased was the OCC (Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics) Lip Tar. What’s great about this product is that it’s highly pigmented like a lipstick but goes on smoothly like a lipgloss! Another plus is that OCC is 100% vegan and cruelty-free! 🙂 It comes in a variety of colours! The colours I purchased were: Clear, Conquest, & Melange.

I also attended a couple of seminars. One seminar I attended was held by YouTube’s Make-up Guru, Koren from Enkore Make-up (enkoremakeuponline.com). He showed us how to apply Naked Cosmetics in so many different ways. They sell make-up products such as, eye shadow, foundation, liner, mascara, nail polish, blush but in the form of loose powder, made of 100% oxidized mica! Can you believe it? I couldn’t until I saw the seminar.

Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss

For any of you who know me, you know that I love LIP GLOSS!!!

I think I found my new found love:
Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss by Smahsbox (www.smashbox.com)

This is a high-shine gloss that gives you a beautiful pout. This gloss has a “reflective pearlescent shade” which can be worn on top of your desired lip colour or on your bare lips (I got my best friend to try it on with nothing on her lips and it looked amazing on her! I could not believe that she did not apply a coloured gloss!) What’s great about this gloss is that it doesn’t feel heavy on your lips and it does not feel sticky like other glosses (such as, MAC glosses). This gloss also gives the illusion of plump, luscious lips!

This is $19 USD/$22 CAD. You can find this at Sephora (www.sephora.com) or if you are in Canada, you can also purchase this at selected Shopper’s Drugmart Beauty Boutique Stores.
